Oil Palm Plantation Drive under Central Government Initiative at Chellampally Village

On September 25, 2024, a significant step was taken toward promoting sustainable agriculture under the Central Government’s Mega Plantation Drive. An oil palm plantation was successfully established on 1.50 acres of farmland belonging to Sri M. Shekar, located in Chellampally village, Kadthal Mandal, Rangareddy district.

The event was marked by an awareness and interaction program organized to educate farmers on the long-term benefits and economic potential of oil palm cultivation. The session highlighted various aspects of crop management, intercropping practices, and the support extended by both government and private agencies for successful plantation establishment.

The program was graced by the presence of Honourable MLA Sri Kasireddy, who emphasized the importance of diversifying into high-yield crops like oil palm to reduce dependency on traditional oilseeds. Mr. Ramakrishna Babu, CEO of Value Oil and Gas Services, along with the Area Manager and Field Officer, also participated and provided valuable insights on technical guidance, input supply, and post-plantation support mechanisms offered by the company.

This collaborative initiative between the government, industry stakeholders, and local farmers reflects a strong commitment to advancing oil palm cultivation in Telangana. It serves as an example of how coordinated efforts can contribute toward self-reliance in edible oil production while promoting sustainable rural development.
