NALMOT Visit to Telangana: Monitoring Progress and Addressing Emerging Challenges under NMEO-OP

The National Level Monitoring Team (NALMOT) has proposed to undertake monitoring visits across implementing states to proactively address emerging challenges and ensure the effective achievement of the objectives under the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP).
As part of this initiative, an inspection was conducted on 15th April 2025, during which the team visited the oil palm field of Sri S. Madhava Reddy, located in Area-3, spanning 5 acres, with papaya and chrysanthemum as intercrops. The field is situated in Masanpally village, Maheswaram mandal, Ranga Reddy District.
The NALMOT team for Telangana, comprising Dr. K. Ponnusamy, Director, Directorate of Oilseeds Development, Hyderabad; Dr. G. Vijaya Krishna, Scientist (H) & Head, HRS, Aswaraopet; along with Smt. Sarojini, Additional Director of Horticulture (Oil Palm); officials from the Directorate of Oilseeds Development; Additional Director of Horticulture, District Horticulture and Sericulture Officer (DHSO), Assistant Director of Horticulture (ADH), Ranga Reddy District; and VIce President of Value Oil and Gas Services Pvt. Ltd Rama Mohan Rao ., visited the field.
The farmers expressed keen interest in adopting oil palm cultivation, indicating a positive outlook towards the crop’s potential and the support extended under the NMEO-OP framework.
