
On July 14, 2025, a significant step toward promoting sustainable agriculture and enhancing farmer livelihoods was taken through a mega oil palm plantation drive held in Ganapavaram village, Rajupalem Mandal, Palnadu district. The initiative, aimed at accelerating the adoption of oil palm cultivation in the region, successfully covered 10 hectares of land with the planting of 1,250 oil palm saplings. The event witnessed the active participation of nearly 300 farmers, highlighting the growing interest and confidence in oil palm as a high-yield and income-generating crop.
To complement the plantation activity, an awareness meeting was organized to educate and engage local farmers on the benefits, cultivation techniques, and government support available for oil palm farming. This platform facilitated meaningful interaction between farmers, officials, and implementing partners, promoting knowledge exchange and addressing field-level concerns.
The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries and stakeholders. Honourable MLA Sri Kanna Laxmi Narayana Garu addressed the gathering, reiterating the state government’s commitment to promoting oil palm cultivation as a strategic priority for agricultural growth and self-sufficiency in edible oil production. His presence underscored the political will and policy backing behind the initiative.
Also present was the District Horticulture Officer, who shared insights into the technical aspects of oil palm cultivation and the support extended by the department through training, inputs, and subsidies. Sri RamaMohana Rao, Vice President of Value Oil and Gas Services Pvt. Ltd., the implementing partner for oil palm development in the area, emphasized the company’s role in providing end-to-end support to farmers—from nursery supply and technical guidance to procurement and processing.
Officers from the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, the Area Manager, Field Officer, and other frontline staff participated actively, ensuring the smooth execution of the program and reinforcing institutional support at the grassroots level.
The strong turnout and collaborative execution of the plantation drive and awareness meeting reflect a shared and united vision for transforming the agricultural landscape of Palnadu district. Through such joint efforts by the government, private sector, and farming community, the region moves closer to achieving sustainable agriculture, increased farmer incomes, and self-reliance in in edible oil production.
