Planting Prosperity: Central Government Launches 300-Acre Oil Palm Initiative in Rangareddy

On January 3, 2025, the central government officially launched an extensive plantation initiative aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture by establishing an oil palm plantation spanning 300 acres across multiple locations in Rangareddy District. This initiative seeks to enhance local economies, create job opportunities, and support agricultural diversification.

To raise awareness and educate the community about the benefits and practices associated with oil palm cultivation, an informative meeting was organized at Aspalliguda village in Shabad Mandal. The event attracted a diverse group of attendees, including Kale Yadaiah, the MLA of the Congress Party representing the Chevella constituency, who emphasized the importance of this initiative for local farmers and the environment.

Also in attendance were RR District Collector Ramana Reddy, IAS, who spoke about government support for farmers; the District Agricultural Officer (DAO), who outlined best agricultural practices; and the District Horticulture and Sericulture Officer (DHSO), who discussed the potential for increased agricultural productivity. Various political leaders contributed insights into the initiative’s broader implications for the region. Additionally, Ramakrishna Babu, CEO of Value Oil and Gas Services, highlighted the economic opportunities associated with oil palm products.

Farmers from nearby villages engaged in discussions, seeking guidance on how to adapt their practices to incorporate oil palm cultivation and maximize the benefits of this new initiative.
